Ohlone sports recap: Women's Soccer

November 11, 2009, Tri-City Voice - The Lady Renegades continued to inch toward a playoff berth after two road games, the first a 1-0 loss to Skyline College (October 30), and the second a 2-1 win over City College of San Francisco (November 3).

Ohlone played Skyline tough and lost the heartbreaker on a second half goal. CCSF took a 1-0 lead to the half, but Ohlone got off the scoring skids with two second half goals, by Summer Winters and Melissa Flores.

The Renegades are second in the conference with a record of 6-3-1 and an overall mark of 8-8-1.

Ohlone soccer recap: Women's Soccer

November 3, 2009, Tri-City Voice Sports - The Lady Renegades also had to battle the winds on Tuesday afternoon’s road game at Las Positas College, and the weather conditions helped make the game a sloppily played contest. But not a low-scoring contest, although it was unfortunately Ohlone who came up on the wrong end of a 4-3 final score.

Summer Winters tied the game at 3-3 in the 64th minute, but Stefani Amaral’s score with seven minutes left in regulation iced the game for Positas. The loss left Ohlone with a 7-7-1 overall record, tied for second place with Las Positas in the conference, both at 5-2-1.

October 29, 2009, Ohlone College Monitor - The Ohlone’s Women’s soccer team were faced with some rough conditions that cost them their game this past Tuesday against Las Posi-tas College, losing 4-3. October 21, 2009, Tri-City Voice - The Lady Renegades didn't have to fight Tuesday's brutal weather, as their road game in Cupertino against De Anza was postponed. So they played it the next day, and Ohlone won 1-0 for their fourth straight win. In third place in the Coast Conference, Ohlone is gearing up for a run at the playoffs.

October 15, 2009, Ohlone College Monitor - “We were very organized this game, and controlled the ball in our possession which got us our winning goal,” said Ohlone Head Coach Larry Heslin as the Lady Renegades added another victory to their record against Cañada College last Friday. Ladies cruising at home

October 8, 2009, Ohlone College Monitor - With every game, a team wants to move on up and get better on the field. The Ohlone Women’s Soccer team, however, seems to be rocking back and forth, and forth and back with their results. After a couple of unfortunate loses, the team came back with a shutout game, 4-0, against San Francisco City College last Friday and followed up with another win this past Tuesday, 2-1, against West Hills College. October 7, 2009, Tri-City Voice - The Lady Renegades (1-1 in conference play) also suffered their first conference defeat of the season, dropping a 1-0 heartbreaker to Skyline on Tuesday, Sept. 29. A rough first few minutes cost Ohlone, as Trojans forward Isharene Malave was able to slip the ball past Ohlone keeper Shelby Tomesello in the first three minutes.

The loss was the first time in four years that Ohlone has lost a home game to Skyline.

October 1, 2009, Ohlone College Monitor - In soccer, everything and any-thing is possible, even the possibility of being unsure of how to play in the first five minutes of a game. Some-thing along those lines was how the Ohlone Women’s Soccer team felt like and faced their sixth loss of the season against Skyline College, Tuesday. September 23, 2009, Tri-City Voice - Coach Larry Heslin's women had had two weeks of tough nonconference games against state- and conference-champions Sacramento City and Modesto College. In each of the games the team would play well but somehow wound up with a loss. This week they found a way to win against Monterey Peninsula in a 2-0 battle at home Tuesday, Sept. 15. September 16, 2009, Tri-City Voice - Coming off a close 2-1 defeat to defending state champions Coach Larry Heslin's Renegades were looking get a win this week. "I think our women are up for the challenge," said Heslin.
