Both Ohlone men's and women's soccer teams found a way to be successful during the week. The women were able to eek out their first win of the young season and men were able to pitch a shutout while on the road.

Coach Larry Heslin's women had had two weeks of tough nonconference games against state- and conference-champions Sacramento City and Modesto College. In each of the games the team would play well but somehow wound up with a loss. This week they found a way to win against Monterey Peninsula in a 2-0 battle at home Tuesday, Sept. 15.

Casey Tuoto and Reanna Williams would each score a goal with an assist by Summer Winter in each of the first half goals. Shelby Tomesello, who has 27 saves on the year, had three saves as the Renegades out shot MPC 23-4.

Unfortunately the team could not savor their win on Tuesday for very long as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Diablo Valley on Thursday, Sept. 17.

"We are coming together as a team," said Heslin. "We're looking forward to starting league against Hartnell."
