Board Member Biography - Board of Trustees for the Ohlone Community College District
Trustee Jan Giovannini-Hill
Jan Giovannini-Hill has been a long time resident and active community member of the Tri-Cities area for several decades. She has been involved in many local venues including the Fremont 4th of July parades; scouting, church, local youth soccer; and Little League programs with her children who are now grown.
Jan has worked in several departments and offices at what is now known as CSU East Bay. She began her tenure there in 1970 and currently works as an Administrative Analyst Specialist in the Financial Aid Office. She also taught for six years at Heald College in Hayward in the 1990's, and she has been a volunteer in the Fremont Police Department CARE Program since 2007.
She and her husband Harold have four children, all of whom have attended and/or graduated from Ohlone College. Jan holds a B.A. in Administrative Communication and an MPA in Organizational Change, both from CSU East Bay.
Education, especially higher education, has been a lifelong experience and passion for Trustee Giovannini-Hill. She has spent over four decades working in higher education and academic environments, beginning as a student assistant in the library at the College of San Mateo in 1967; as a professor at Heald; and as a full time staff person at Cal State East Bay. Knowing what it is like to be a long time working college student—the first in her family; a full time staff person for decades at a local CSU, a student assistant at a local community college, an alumna and professor at a two-year business college, and parent of four Ohlone College students, Jan is especially excited to be able to join the Ohlone Community College District Board.
