Trustee Richard Watters
Richard has worked for the past 15 years in higher education. Currently he is the Director of the Center for Student Leadership at Notre Dame de Namur University, he has been there for the past 10 years, and prior to that at Cal State Hayward for 3 years. Richard works directly with students, families, faculty, and staff to assist students in achieving academic success.
Richard also has represented staff for the past 6 years as Staff Assembly President. This role has afforded him to serve on the Notre Dame de Namur University's Board of Trustees and the University's Planning and Budgeting Committee that oversees and develops the University's $23 million budget.
While working full time for Notre Dame de Namur University, he also works part time as a Realtor for Century 21 Pride Properties in Newark, and belongs to many non-profit organizations. Currently he is President of the Newark Educational Foundation, a member of the Newark Chamber of Commerce, and the Newark Optimist Club.
Richard lives in Newark with his wife Cathreene, an elementary school teacher and administrator. They are expecting their first child in September 2008.
