Good News Report August 2009 - Board of Trustees
Officer Miguel Mendoza from College Safety & Security is scheduled to return on or about September 5th to the US after serving one year in Iraq with the US Army.
After 3 weeks of transition, all the Student Service areas are now moved and serving students in the new Student Services Center. The only exception to this is the Assessment Center, which will continue to serve students on the 4th floor of building one through September. The new building dedication is scheduled for 4pm on Sept 9th and will precede the first board meeting held in room 7101.
Debbie Trigg our Director EOPS and Campus Activities just completed the CCCCO’s Administration 101 training program last week. This training was offered to about 70 managers from across the state and was held at UCLA.
The upcoming Golf Tournament to benefit Athletics is slated for September 21st at Castlewood. Even if you don’t play golf, you can come out for the dinner to show support. (Reservations are required.) There will be a small live auction as well as an online auction.
With the addition of the payment plans and dropping students for non-payment, the student receivables have been reduced from $2.8 M to $1.3.
In time for the rush of fall students, the College Bookstore is up and running with new hardware and software.
Ohlone just received a check for $565,000 from the Wayne and Gladys Valley Foundation which will allow us to complete Newark's capital requirements.
