The on-going construction of the new Student Services Building is progressing as quickly as possible. Unfortunately we have reached a critical phase of the project at a most challenging time - the beginning of the new spring semester.
The construction project is about to enter a very noisy phase of construction. Riveting and hammering of metal beams and decks will be occurring for the next couple of months. This process is unavoidably loud and noisy. Those buildings closest to the project (#6, 8, 1) may be impacted by the noise. The noise will certainly ring throughout the campus.
The District regrets any difficulty this may present to the learning environment or the instructional process. The construction team will do all that it can to minimize this disruption, however the options are very limited. We appreciate your patience and support as we meet this challenge together.
In addition to this there will be a few days next week when the walkway from parking lot M to the President's office in building 1 will be blocked. This is for safety requirements as the crane makes the final lifts in the area. If you encounter barricades on this, or any, walkway, please use alternate routes to ensure your safety.

Building 1 will be closed for safety reasons this Saturday, 1/12/2008. There will be a crane setting new cooling towers on the roof and for everyone's protection there can be no personnel inside the building during the lifts. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Note: There is a concern that weather conditions may prevent the work from being done. If that happens, this will be rescheduled to a different weekend.
