The Northwest stairwell of Building 6 will be open for access to the 2nd floor only, beyond that level, the stairwell be closed and secured off.
The elevator in Building 6 will ride to the 2nd floor and will not stop on the 3rd floor, again to keep traffic from the 3rd floor area.

Building 6
Stairs - This coming Friday, Saturday & Monday, (11/16, 11/17 & 11/19) the contractors will continue to demo the Building 6 stair footings which are located on the west side of the building. Therefore, the construction noise level will increase during this time period and will include some building vibration.
Rooms 6104 & 6105
Starting the week of 11/26, the contractors will begin the process of backfilling the SSB retaining walls with gravel behind rooms 6104 & 6105. Therefore, the rear exit doors within each of these rooms will be blocked and should not be used for emergency exit purposes.

Demolition of Building 6 Stairs
As part of the Student Services Building Project, the south/west side stairs, closest to Building 8, are scheduled to be demolished starting Saturday, September 8, 2007. The plan is to install temporary evacuation stairs, that would then be replaced with new permanent stairs during this coming winter break (December-January).
The contractors are scheduled to demolish the stairs over the weekend, starting on Saturday, September 8, through Monday morning, September 10. The demolition process will continue and then be completed the following weekend, Saturday, September 15 through Sunday, September 16.
On Monday morning, September 10, the contractors will be installing the "temporary" evacuation stairs. During this process, those in Building 6 may experience some additional construction noise during the early morning hours.
Until the new permanent stairs are in place in January 2008, the stairs on the north/west side of Building 6, nearest Building 5, will be used as the primary path to the upper floors in Building 6. Once the temporary stairs are in place, they should only be used in the event of an emergency.
AC Transit Bus Stop
[as of 1:25pm August 15, 2007] The AC Transit bus stop on the upper campus above Building 6 was scheduled to be re-opened in September 2007. However, due to concerns for safety, the upper bus stop will remain closed through December 1, 2007. Therefore, all bus drop offs will continue to take place at the lower bus stop on south side loop near the swimming pool.
Student Services Building - Closure of Stairway
[as of July 23, 2007] Effective tomorrow, Tuesday, July 24, 2007, the stairway on the south side of Building 1, from the upper Quad to 2nd level of Building 1 and 8, will be closed.
It has been determined that the stairs will need to be closed for safety reasons for the duration of the construction of the Student Services Building. The contractors are excavating the footings for the new Student Services Building foundation and this could undermined the support of the stairs. Directional signage will be posted.
Parking Lot N
[as of June 6, 2007] Parking Lot N is scheduled to be re-opened tomorrow, Thursday, June 7, 2007. The parking lot has been reassigned for Disabled and Restrictive Parking only.
Student Services Building Project (SSB)
[as of May 30, 2007] The general contractor has fenced in the larger construction site which includes upper parking lots P & O. For safety reasons we asked that no "vehicles" and/or faculty/staff/students enter into the fenced area.
AC Transit Bus Routes
The upper campus AC Transit Bus Stop will be closed as of this Friday, June 1, 2007. The bus stop is scheduled to be reopened by September, 2007. All bus drop offs will continue to take place in the bus stop on south side loop near the swimming pool.
Fencing around Parking Lots P and O
The new fencing will be erected on the Tuesday, May 29, 2007, the day after the Memorial Holiday. The larger construction site will incorporate the entire upper Parking Lots P & O. Upper Parking Lot N, will be re-striped and will be used for disabled and restrictive parking only.
Due to the temporary loss of use of Parking Lots P & O, new parking lot assignments have been made for the entire Fremont Campus and are scheduled to take effect on Monday, June 18, 2007, the 1st day of Summer Session. More information below.
