Ohlone Community College graduated 115 associate of science degrees, and 470 associate of arts degrees, at its 40th commencement ceremony May 24.

The youngest student to graduate last week was 17, while the oldest was 67. Ohlone officials said there were 22 graduates older than 50.

There were 258 graduates from Fremont, 42 from Newark, and 215 from other areas of the country, including two from San Antonio, Texas and one from Sparks, Nevada.

Dina Ruiz Eastwood, wife of actor Clint Eastwood, was the keynote speaker at Ohlone's graduation as its "Outstanding Alumni." Dina Eastwood is a Fremont native who grew up on Ellsworth Street, directly across the street from Ohlone College. A graduate of Mission San Jose High School, she attended several colleges, beginning with Ohlone in 1983.

Upon graduation, Dina Eastwood returned to Ohlone to join its television broadcast class, which aired a taped-live news program once a week. Her spot as one of the news anchors paved the way to a career in television news through 1996.
