Many significant events took place in the Tri-City area in 2007, from the death of longtime Ohlone College Trustee Dan Archer to murder charges being filed against a Fremont parolee in the October 2006 slaying of 38-year-old Alia Ansari.
In this first part of a two-day review of the year's local news, The Argus looks at January through June.
Ohlone Trustee Dan Archer announced that he would relinquish his post with two years remaining in his term. Archer, 88, had been a former teacher and principal in Newark before being elected to the Ohlone board of trustees in 1979. Archer, who never cited his declining health as reason for stepping down, died in June from heart failure.
