On Jan 31, Ohlone College President Douglas Treadway will hold a press conference in advance of the formal dedication of the new community college campus in Newark.
This new "green" technology campus will be the first college in the United States to be designed at the highest level (platinum) LEED standard for construction and environmental sustainability.
To be named the Ohlone College Newark Center for Health Sciences and Technology, the new campus will be officially dedicated beginning at noon Jan. 31.
Anticipated initial enrollment at the campus is 3,500, and classes begin Jan. 28.
Lt. Gov. John Garamendi will be the keynote speaker. Other officials from the federal, state, and local levels will also participate, as well as presidents of other Bay Area colleges and universities.
