Zhejiang Academy dancers and Shaoxing Opera

In a rare cultural treat direct from China, four incredible performances of Chinese dance and music will be presented in Fremont. A rich cultural experience awaits patrons, featuring award-winning performers of the Zhejiang Academy of Arts.

Sponsored by Ohlone College, traditional Chinese dancers, musicians and Shaoxing Opera will perform at the Smith Center. The Zhejiang Vocational Academy of Arts has a 50-year history of comprehensive arts instruction. Located in the Zhejiang Province on the Qiantang River in China, the academy offers higher education programs in the performing arts, visual arts, and electronic arts and technology from accomplished instructors with professional backgrounds.

The school actively adapts their instructional programs to the economic and social demands for arts and culture in the province to keep their programs vibrant and dynamic. Zhejiang Academy provides development of artistic talent to professional performing groups all across China. As guests of Ohlone College they will continue the established practice of cultural exchange by having their students attending class with students from here and sharing instruction and technique before performing.
