Ohlone College’s “Unity Week” Features Black Panthers’ Founder Bobby Seale

Fremont, CA—Ohlone College will host “Pioneers of the Civil Rights Era” featuring Bobby Seale, Founder of the Black Panthers, and other civil rights era leaders on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in the Smith Center’s Jackson Theater. This event is free to the public and parking is $2.00. A free international food buffet will immediately follow the event.

This special event is part of the college campus’ annual Unity Week being held May 7 – 11, 2007. In addition to Bobby Seale, the event will also welcome Laureen Chew, San Francisco State University Associate Dean of Ethnic Studies, Joel Garcia, Esq., Executive Director of the Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center, inc., Nina Genera, Ohlone College Counselor, Elizabeth “Betita” Martinez, Founder of the Institute for Multiracial Justice and author of “De Colores Means All of Us,” and Alex Saragoza, UC Berkeley Chicano Studies Professor.

Seale will be available after the event. Books and videos from event participants will be available for purchase.
