Student Altercation Results in Arrest

Fremont, CA—Monday, May 7 Farhad Farsi, a student at Ohlone College, was detained and later arrested by Ohlone Campus Police after allegedly assaulting two fellow students. According to the police report, Mr. Farsi began a physical altercation with a student that resulted in another student being knocked to the ground, an office window being broken, and several threats being made to faculty, students, and staff in the area.

Ohlone College officials notified the student Monday evening of a ten-day suspension from campus pending further investigation, as indicated by California State Education Code 76031. In such cases, the student has a right to due process, which can include meeting with a Student Conduct Board and final review by the Ohlone College Board of Trustees. Because President Doug Treadway is currently out of the country, this matter is being conducted under the supervision of the Deputy Superintendent.

Mr. Farsi was released by Fremont Police on Monday night and will appear at a 2:00 pm arraignment hearing on Wednesday, May 9 at the Alameda County Superior Court in Fremont.

For further information on this matter, please contact Ohlone Campus Police Chief Steve Osawa at 510-659-6111.
