Ohlone College Opens New (Green) Campus

Fremont, CA—On Thursday, Jan 31, Ohlone College President, Douglas Treadway will hold a press conference in advance of the formal dedication of the new community college campus in Newark, California. This new campus will be the first college in the United States to be designed at the highest level (platinum) LEED standard for construction and environmental sustainability. To be named the Ohlone College Newark Center for Health Sciences and Technology, the new campus will be officially dedicated beginning at 12:00 p.m. on January 31, 2008.

Anticipated initial enrollment at the campus is 3,500 and classes begin on January 28, 2008.

Lieutenant Governor John Garamendi will be the keynote speaker. Other officials from the Federal, State, and local levels of government will also participate, as well as Presidents of other Bay Area colleges and universities.
