Ohlone College Announces New President/Superintendent
Dr. Gari Browning Joins Ohlone College July 1, 2008
Fremont, CA—Ohlone College’s Board of Trustees announced last night the conclusion of their search for a new President/Superintendent at Ohlone College. The Board has made an offer to Dr. Gari Browning and she has graciously accepted.
Dr. Browning has a wealth of experience as a senior community college official. She comes to Ohlone from the College of the Desert where she currently serves as their Vice President of Instruction. Prior to her current assignment, she served with the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). She earned a Bachelors degree in Linguistics from UC Irvine, a Masters degree in Teaching English as a Second Language from UCLA, and a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from UCLA.
“Although the Board felt that all three finalists were highly qualified, the Board believes that Dr. Browning is the best fit for Ohlone College at this time,” said Board of Trustees President, Garrett Yee. “We all look forward to working with Dr. Browning to build upon the great work of President Doug Treadway, who has moved Ohlone College forward in many significant ways during his five-year tenure.”
Dr. Treadway retires from Ohlone College on June 30, 2008. A bio for Dr. Gari Browning is available at http://www.ohlone.edu/org/president/search/finalistbio-browning.html [July 28, 2008 updated link: http://www.ohlone.edu/org/president/biography.html].
