Ohlone College Announces Vacancy on Board of Trustees for Newark Seat
Fremont, CA—Due to the passing of Trustee Bill McMillin, Ohlone Community College District now has a vacancy on its Board of Trustees. Applications (PDF) [link deleted after deadline] for one of the two Newark Trustee positions are being sought by the Board. Candidates are eligible to apply if they are at least 18 years of age, a California citizen, a registered voter, not disqualified by other laws to hold public office, and are a resident of the City of Newark.
Members of the Ohlone College Board of Trustees are elected officials who serve on a seven member board for a four-year term, with no limitation on the number of terms that can be served. Trustees participate in the monthly board meetings and workshops, typically two evenings a month. Details on serving in this post are available on the College’s web site.
The individual selected for this position will serve until the next general election period for this seat, which is in November
2014, at which time they may run for election.

Board meetings are recorded on video, so past board meetings can be viewed on the web site as well. Applicants for the position are encouraged to read agendas and supporting materials and watch previous board meetings to familiarize themselves with the processes and actions of the board.
