Engineering Liaison Council Conference
Fremont, CA – Ohlone College will host the fall meeting of the California Engineering Liaison Council on November 17 and 18, 2005. The Council draws representatives, deans and associate deans, from colleges of engineering in the UC and CSU system and the independent universities and colleges, and engineering professors from the California Community Colleges.
Approximately 100 Engineering and Technology Educational leaders will come to Ohlone College to discuss curriculum, policy and transfer issues during the two-day conference. This is the first time that a community college has been selected to host the conference.
The Math, Science, and Engineering Division at Ohlone College is proud to host this important council meeting at Ohlone under the coordination of Gary Mishra, Engineering Professor. Mishra feels that the unusual level of success among Ohlone College engineering students and its transfer program accounts for the Council choosing Ohlone for their conference. Our engineering students have been transferring from universities with exceptional engineering programs.
Each year 40% to 50% of our engineering students transfer to UCs, CSUs or private universities and graduate on time. Last year, was a record year. Seventy percent of Ohlone engineering students were accepted by the UC system, 50% in the UC Berkeley engineering program. Two of our students were also accepted by Cornell University.
Students from the Association of Ohlone Engineering Students will be facilitating the conference with Professor Mishra.
For further information please visit the Ohlone College web site at www.ohlone.edu and proceed to the calendar section for the tentative ELC conference schedule.
