Ohlone College Appoints Corporate Executive to Fill New Post
Fremont, CA – David W. Smith of Newark, CA has accepted the position of Executive Director of Asset & Enterprise Management Services for Ohlone College, with a start date of January 16, 2006. College President Doug Treadway announced the appointment at the December 14th meeting of the Board of Trustees.
Making the announcement, Treadway said, “Dave Smith will be a strong leader for Ohlone in building our partnerships with business and industry in the Bay Area and attracting external funding resources to support continued excellence in our academic programs and facilities. We are fortunate to have a professional of his caliber join our team.”
With over 30 years experience in the private sector, David Smith has most recently served since 1979 as Vice President of Oatey Supply Chain Services, a large manufacturer headquartered in the mid-West, overseeing sales operations throughout the United States. He also has considerable experience with public entities, having served since 1976 on the Newark City Council, and participated in related organizational positions at the United States Conference of Mayors, Alameda County Conference of Mayors, and Alameda County Transportation Authority. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Industrial Management from Michigan Technological University and has MBA coursework from Louisiana State University.
David Smith was selected from a national search to fill the newly created position that will represent the District’s primary revenue development interface with the corporate community.
