Comprised of two parliamentary teams totaling four people, the Ohlone team was one of the smaller schools competing at the national tournament. Sammy Obeid and Athena Bringhurst took a Bronze medal for Parliamentary Debate while their teammates, Emily Burkett and David Taube, took Gold and came away ranked second in the nation. Sammy Obeid also went on to take the Gold for Speech To Entertain and was ranked first in the nation while Emily Burkett took a silver for Extemporaneous Speaking.

The team will be present at the May 9th Board of Trustees meeting in recognition of their success. Members of the team will be presenting a selection of their prize-winning speeches at Ohlone’s annual Speech Night on May 4th including Obeid’s Speech to Entertain and Burkett’s Persuasion pieces.
