For Immediate Release:
17 year old Ohlone College Graduate is Valedictorian at Ohlone College
Fremont, CA—Claire Dorman is like a lot of other teenagers. She takes ballet classes, studies for school, hangs out with friends, or spends time with her family. There’s one major difference, however. Claire is graduating from college at the same time most kids her age are graduating from high school. She has a 4.0 grade point average with an A.S. degree in Physics, was named the 2007 Outstanding Math Student of the year, and will serve as the Valedictorian for the 2007 graduating class at Ohlone Community College in Fremont.
Claire was home schooled until she turned 13, when she began taking classes at Ohlone, where she immediately was drawn to the field of physics. Her younger brother Eric, age 15 and sister Leah, age 13 also attend school at Ohlone. Claire plans to continue her studies next year at UC Berkeley. Claire’s entire family is proud to have her represent Ohlone’s graduating class this year.
Ohlone’s 40th graduation ceremony is today, Thursday, May 24th at 7pm in the Epler Gymnasium at the Ohlone College Fremont campus. This year’s honored alumnus, Ms. Dina Eastwood, will join Claire as a speaker at the event.
