Steve Cho Honored as Ohlone College Foundation Citizen of the Year
Fremont, CA—Since 1987, the Ohlone College Foundation has awarded a Citizen of the Year Award at the Annual Benefit Luncheon. This award is given to an individual or organization that has made exceptional contributions and commitments to the advancement of the community. This year, former Fremont City Council Member, Steve Cho, will be honored.
Steve Cho and his family have lived in Fremont since 1974. Steve has been active in many community and professional organizations. His community involvement includes being a member and serving as President of the Board of Directors for the Organization of Chinese Americans, Site Council Representative at Thornton Junior High, twice President of Citizens for Better Community, member of the Fremont City Charter Committee, and a member of the Fremont Planning Commission. It is this community involvement that propelled him into becoming a Fremont City Councilmember, where he served from 2000 to 2008. Steve established himself as one of the most visible council members in Fremont. He is called the “ubiquitous” Cho because he is seen everywhere.
This year the Citizen of the Year Luncheon will also celebrate the LEED Platinum Certification awarded to Ohlone College Newark Center “The Greenest College in the World.”
