Smith Center Presents! Rhythm of Rajasthan

Rhythm of Rajasthan.

Fremont, CA—Legends of heroism and romance are captured in the vibrant evocative music and dance of these native performers from the Desert of Rajasthan. The hypnotic combination of rhythm and melodies are part of the eternal appeal of this mysterious and wondrous land and reflect the centuries-old traditions of Rajasthani life.

Rhythm of Rajasthan creates an exciting fusion of traditional rhythms and melodies. The group is comprised of hereditary caste musicians of Langa and Manganiar communities and a gypsy dancer of the Kalbelia tribe. Though both communities are made up of Muslim musicians, many of their songs are in praise of Hindu deities and celebrate Hindu festivals such as Diwali and Holi. Rhythm of Rajasthan has the amazing combination of instrumental and singing music style as well as the breath taking dancing.

Most recently the group participated in the 2nd International Sufi Music Festival where the Prince of Jordan His Majesty Hassan Talal honored the group in the closing ceremony. Rhythm of Rajasthan brings the tunes and rhythms of their rich culture to Ohlone College in Fremont for one night only. Buy your tickets now before they sell out!
