Ohlone College Chamber Singers 24th Annual Christmas at the Mission
Fremont, CA—For 24 consecutive years the Ohlone Chamber Singers, conducted by Dennis Keller, have performed during the holiday season at Old Mission San Jose. The Chamber Singers have traveled to ten different countries on eight international tours and have performed in some of the most remarkable cathedrals in the world. However, they consider Mission San Jose their home and their most enjoyable performance venue. Over the years, the Christmas at the Mission concerts have grown to be an annual family tradition for many audience members who enjoy the intimacy of the setting and the almost mystical acoustics of the Mission.
This year's concert follows in the tradition of previous performances, allowing for plenty of opportunities for the audience to join the choir in familiar carols. This year's selections feature music composed by Johann Sebastian Bach, contemporary arrangements of familiar carols, and a surprise or two (à la King's Singers)! For an additional treat the beautiful pipe organ, positioned in the Mission’s balcony, will be played by Chamber Singers’ accompanist Janet Holmes. This is an annual event not to be missed, and a new tradition to add to your holiday celebration.
The Ohlone College Chamber Singers are a 32-voice auditioned choir performing a wide range of choral pieces for the past twenty years throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and Europe. The group was founded in 1985 by Ohlone College music professor Dennis L. Keller, who continues to serve as the conductor of the choral group.
