Ohlone Chamber Singers Benefit Concert for Victims of Chinese Earthquake

Fremont, CA—The recent devastating earthquake in Yushu County in the Qinghai province, a remote area of northwest China, on April 14th left hundreds of people dead and thousands more missing or injured. To assist with the relief effort, the Ohlone College Chamber Singers will donate the ticket proceeds from their final concert of the year to Red Cross: China Relief.

Over the years, Ohlone College has developed strong sister college relationships with faculty and student exchanges with many colleges and universities in China. The Chamber Singers would like to honor and enrich their relationships with China and are proud to offer assistance to the Chinese people affected by the tragic earthquake through their benefit concert.

The concert features music from stage and screen, choral arrangements of jazz standards such as My Funny Valentine, Stormy Weather and Isn’t It Romatic, as well as selections from operas including Carmen, Idomeneo and Rigoletto. The second portion of the concert features selections from Gilbert and Sullivan’s renowned H.M.S. Pinafore.
