World Premiere of H.G. Wells’ Sci-Fi Thriller The Time Machine
Fremont, CA—H.G. Wells’ classic sci-fi thriller has been dusted off and injected with a big shot of comedy in Edward Mast’s “The Time Machine – or, Love Among the Eloi”. Spend Halloween weekend (and until unlucky November 13th) in the eerie world of the Eloi, free spirited young hedonists of the future, whose every earthly need is met. Time traveler Henry thinks he has deliriously stumbled upon a new-found Eden only to make a horrifying discovery. It all points to one conclusion—having everything you want comes at a price.
Immerse yourself in this utopian/dystopian world as the acrobatic young cast portrays an intriguing world of freedom, directed by Tom Blank. You can also stalk through the adjacent Art Gallery to see costumes, artwork, sculpture and design pieces of “Love Among the Eloi.”
Award-winning playwright Edward Mast will be in residence October 25-29, and will attend the opening night performance.
Mr. Mast was born in California and now lives in Seattle. Best known for his work in Children’s Theatre, he first received significant public attention for “Jungalbook,” his adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s “The Mowgli Stories,” where, once again, he blurs the line between civilization and the jungle. “Jungalbook” won a Distinguished Play Award from the American Alliance for Theatre and Education in 1991. Other plays and play adaptations include “The Hobbit,” “Peach Blossom Fan” and “Antigone’s Nation,” and many more.
