Ohlone College Softball Coach hits 800th Coaching Win

Fremont, CA—Donna Runyon, Ohlone College women’s softball coach, landed her 800th career win on Thursday, April 14. The Ohlone Renegades defeated their Coast Conference North rival Chabot College Gladiators by 9-1 giving a much deserved win to their beloved coach. In total Runyon has coached for 40 years of which 24 years have been spent at Ohlone College.

It’s been a great year for women’s softball! The 2011 regular season had the Renegades capturing their 9th consecutive Coast Conference title. Their record was 15-3 and 29-7-1 overall.

For the 23rd year, under the coaching of Donna Runyon, the Ohlone Softball Team has qualified for Post Season. Ohlone will be hosting the 2011 Norcal Regional softball tournament, which begins on Saturday. The Lady Renegades, #3 seed, will be facing the Reedley College Tigers, #14 seed at 2pm. The tournament continues on Sunday, starting at noon. Don’t miss this chance to see the award winning coach and her team in action.

Runyon began her junior college coaching career in 1980, at Cypress College in Southern California, and has formerly coached at UC Riverside, Chapman University, and San Francisco City College. She is a graduate of Temple University with a Degree in Health and Physical Education, and received her Master’s Degree at St. Mary’s College in Administration of Physical Education.
