Over 130 Entries Showcased at Ohlone College Multimedia and Graphic Arts Festival - Press Release, Office of College Advancement

Fremont, CA—The creative efforts of Ohlone College multimedia artists and graphic designers will be showcased at the 14th Annual Multimedia and Graphic Design Festival at Ohlone College on Thursday, May 14. These students, who represent the future workforce of designers, will display their best work to peers, family, and the public as part of the festival. Student presentations are judged in 10 categories including web design, computer animation, video games, poster design, illustration, and 3D modeling.

“The Department has grown and so has the number of projects on display. This year we have included Graphic Arts and introduced three new categories: Branding, Vector Design, and Poster Design,” explains Professor Isabel Reichert, festival organizer.

Student projects are evaluated and awarded prizes by industry professionals: Curdis Priem, Nvidia co-founder; Luther Thie, art director for Sony Entertainment; John Lin, designer, animator and recipient of PromaxBDA North American Design Award; Oakland based graphic designer Mauricio Miranda; and interface designer, Lauren Devine. “We’re all very excited to review the final projects and hear what the judges have to say!” says Reichert.

The Multimedia festival started in 2001 to give Ohlone College students an opportunity to present their best work to a wide audience. Since its debut, the festival has grown in size and scope and is now a forum for high caliber works of digital and graphic art.

More than 130 projects were submitted for review by the judges who will select award-winning projects in each of the 10 categories. The event includes digital entertainment, a special awards program, and refreshments. For more information please visit www.ohlone.edu/go/multimediafest.
