Ohlone College Hosts Panel of Three Hispanic Women in Technology “Disrupting the Dominant Narrative: A Woman’s Journey in Embracing Difference and Creating a Sense of Belonging” - Press Release, Office of College Advancement
Fremont, CA—Anyone who is considering entering the many career paths of technology will be inspired to hear from the three women coming to speak at Ohlone College on October 10. Their experiences, challenges, and triumphs will be shared in a panel presentation from 11:45am to 1:30pm at the college’s Fremont campus. From educational options, to workplace opportunities and demands, the three Latina panelists will leave you with many inspired concepts and stories.
Dr. Monica Moya is a biomedical engineer researcher at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. She is currently the principal investigator and technical lead on several bioengineering projects, including 3D printing of human tissues. She was recently recognized by the EmpowHer Institute with a Millennial Leader Award, a prestigious award that acknowledges women under 40 who are accomplished professionals working for the advancement of females in the arts, business, public service and STEM fields.
Claudia Galván has led global product development at Oracle, Adobe, and Microsoft Worldwide, and recently provided strategic and technical expertise to Silicon Valley start-ups that are launching products internationally. She will reflect on her work experiences and the importance of networking.
Adriana Fuentes is co-founder of and technical lead at a small start-up and is president of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers Silicon Valley. She has worked for Hewlett Packard and Ford Motor Company. Adriana has been a mentor to many students and colleagues.
This event is free and open to the public. This A2Pi Student Equity Initiative is hosted by Ohlone faculty member, Rose-Margaret Itua. The college is located at 43600 Fremont Blvd., Fremont. Enter on Pine Street and park in Ohlone’s South Parking Structure for $4.00.
