A&E's “Hoarders” TV Host to Dispel Myths and Increase Awareness of Hoarding Disorder on the Smith Center Stage at Ohlone College - Press Release, Office of College Advancement
Fremont, CA—Do you, or someone you know, have a challenge with throwing things out? Is your home filled with possessions you never use? Do you have trouble finding important documents that you know you put someplace important? People who answered yes to any of these questions may have a hoarding disorder. Help is on the way!
Friday, October 13 at 7:00 PM, the Ohlone College Psychology Club will be hosting a talk by prominent psychologist, Dr. Robin Zasio, of the Emmy Award-winning A&E television show “Hoarders.” In this one-hour talk, Dr. Zasio will define Hoarding Disorder, dispel myths about hoarding and OCD, and explain how we can all learn something about our relationships with our possessions.
Dr. Zasio will define and describe Hoarding Disorder and distinguish it from general messiness or disorganization, showing how our fascination with hoarding stems from the fact that most of us fall somewhere on the hoarding continuum. She will also describe the methods used by psychologists who work with clients suffering from this paralyzing problem, teaching them to re-build their lives in a way that doesn't allow hoarding to prevent them from enjoying life.
If you think you, or someone you know and care about may show signs of this condition, you will want to attend this informative presentation.
