Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about the Housing Scholarship Program
Q. My grade point average (GPA) is 2.75 can I still apply for the program?
When your cumulative GPA is 2.8 you have fulfilled eligibility requirement for the program.
Q. Are the housing scholarship units nice or run down?
The units available are mixed with market rate units, which include all of the amenities any apartment complex would have.
Q. Once I'm in the program do I get to choose where I live?
No, the Housing Scholarship program willrefer you to the most appropriate unit once there is a vacancy..
Q. If accepted in the program how much rent will I have to pay?
Your rent will be approximately $330 for a single bedroom, $360 for a two-bedroom.
Q. I'm currently an Ohlone student, if I am transferring can I still apply for the program?
Q. What happens to my rent after 18 months?
You will have a maximum of 3 months to find a full-time job where your rent will stay at the scholarship rate. At any point within the 3-month job search time if you find a job, you will automatically be awarded 5 additional months at the scholarship rate.
Q. How much rent will I pay?
The rent will vary from complex to complex. Please check with Housing Scholarship staff.
Q. Do all students in the program have to submit monthly progress reports?
Yes, progress reports will be mailed to you from the city and you will be expected to give them to your teachers and mail them back to the city on a monthly basis (18 months).
