Reinstatement - Probation & Dismissal Information - Counseling Department

Procedures for Students Blocked from Registration

You are blocked from registering because at the end of last semester you either:

1. had a cumulative grade point average (GPA) below a 2.0; or
2. had 50% or more of your cumulative units consisting of poor progress grades (withdraws, no credit or incomplete) for all courses taken at Ohlone College.

If your status is...

Probation

(1st semester of either of the above or GPA between 1.75-2.0)

• You are not allowed to register for next term at this time.
• To have your registration block removed you must attend a one hour Student Success Workshop. You may complete this workshop in-person or online.

Subject to Dismissal Status

(2 semesters of either of the above)

1. You are not allowed to register for next term at this time.
2. To have your registration block removed you must attend a Student Success Workshop and complete the advising session. You may complete this workshop in-person or online.

Dismissal Status

(3 or more semesters of either of the above situations)

1. You are not allowed to register for next term at this time.
2. To be re-admitted for next term you must complete each of the following steps:
   • Step 1: Fill out a Student Reinstatement Petition (PDF) and Progress Reports (PDF) for each of your current classes (both forms can also be obtained at the Counseling Window).
   • Step 2: Make a Counseling Appointment.
   • Step 3: Bring each of the completed forms mentioned above to your counseling appointment and work with your counselor to determine whether or not you'll be able to enroll next term.
