Approval of Minutes:December 5, 2005
v Motion to approve the minutes of December 5, 2005: Deb Parziale/second/Phil Zahorsky. Motion carried.
Program Review: Philosophy, presented by Wayne Yuen
v Mr. Yuen’s goal was for the review to be student oriented.
o How will this program produce a well-educated person?
Yuen used the
v Wants students to get an abstract and skill based course.
v Ask outside the department to give a fresh perspective.
v A World of Cultures is brought into the Philosophy courses.
v One of the roadblocks was low student enrollment due to a faculty member’s sabbatical.
v He would like to make the courses sound less intimidating.
v He would like to create an Introduction to Philosophy course.
For any questions regarding research for your program review, please contact Rob Smedfjeld.
Dr. Wright said the Philosophy program review was excellent, recommends continued review. Wants to create a separate page for program learning outcomes. Program review should be critical thinking and ongoing review. Promote being a living process with a report every four years.

Title change to: Introduction to Lighting; Catalog description change to read “This course introduces the basic concepts, technology and safe practices of electricity and lighting for live events. Lectures will focus on theory and practice, while lab will provide opportunities to use equipment in “real life” situations.” Class schedule description revision to read “Hands on electrics and lighting for live events.” Revision to student learning outcomes; course outline; assignments; methods of evaluation; methods of instruction; updated textbooks and optional texts. v HIST 114 / Cultural Diversity. Janice Jones wanted to know why it was removed from the Cultural Diversity area of GE Plan A and wanted to know if it could be put back. Michael Bowman said he would look into when it was removed and why and get back to her.
v Selected Topics: Chris Warden wants to make the Selected Topics page in CurricUNET as easy as possible. Would like the CurricUNET steering committee to review and make recommendations. Chris Warden invited faculty to try putting a Selected Topic through the process of CurricUNET.
v Heidi Barkow will be doing group trainings on CurricUNET.
v CurricUNET User Guide needs to be updated on CurricUNET. Members would like to see user button on the banner.
v Dr. Wright encourages the Curriculum Committee to keep having Programs under review to keep coming to present to the group.
