ENGL-101C Critical Thinking and Composition – Kerrie Kawasaki-Hull

Catalog Description: “Students will learn critical thinking skills and will use them to read and evaluate essays in a precise, logical way. The emphasis will be upon critical analysis and upon the students' development of effective, written arguments.” Counselor Description: “This course is designed to continue the work in reading and composition started in ENGL 101A with more complex reading material and more challenging written assignments. In addition to an introduction to critical thinking, ENGL 101C involves the writing of investigative papers such as analyses and evaluations of argumentative writing totaling 6000 words. It is required for all those UC transfer students who are completing IGETC and fulfills the critical thinking requirement for CSU General Education. “ Revision to: student learning outcomes, course outline, course assignments, methods of evaluation/assessment, methods of instruction, textbooks, supplies.

MUS-112A ProTools 101 – Jim McManus

Title change to: ProTools 101 from Recording With ProTools; Catalog Description: “The Pro Tools 101:Introduction to Pro Tools covers basic Pro Tools principles, giving you what you need to complete a Pro Tools project, from initial set up to final mixdown. Whether your project involves recording of live instruments, MIDI sequencing of software synthesizers, or audio looping, this course will give you the basic skills to succeed.” Class Schedule Description: “First course in official Digidesign Pro Tools curriculum. Topics include recording, editing and .mixing.” Counselor Information: “This course is part of Ohlone's Commercial Music Certificate program. It is also valuable for students who are interested in Digidesign Pro Tools certification (a completely different certification). Digidesign Certification requires students to complete Pro Tools 101 (Ohlone MUS 112A), Pro Tools 110 (Ohlone MUS 112B) as well as the 200-level courses (200-level course not offered at Ohlone). While both Pro Tools 101 and 110 are offered at expensive private training centers, students can get well on the way to Digidesign certification at a much lower cost by taking these 100-level courses here at Ohlone. Title Change to: ProTools 110 from ProTools and MIDI; Prerequisite: MUS-112A; Catalog Description: “Digidesign Pro Tools 110: Essentials of Pro Tools provides a more detailed look at the Pro Tools system. This course covers all the key concepts and skills needed to operate a Pro Tools system. The course provides the foundation for the later 200-series Pro Tools Music Production and Post Production courses.” Class Schedule Description: “Second course in official Digidesign Pro Tools curriculum. Topics include recording, editing and mixing.” Counselor Information: “This course is part of Ohlone's Commercial Music Certificate Program.
