ENGL-101C Critical Thinking and Composition

Catalog Description: “Students will learn critical thinking
skills and will use them to read and evaluate essays in a precise, logical
way. The emphasis will be upon critical analysis and upon the students'
development of effective, written arguments.” Counselor Description: “This course is designed to continue the
work in reading and composition started in ENGL 101A with more complex reading
material and more challenging written assignments. In addition to an
introduction to critical thinking, ENGL 101C involves the writing of investigative
papers such as analyses and evaluations of argumentative writing totaling 6000 words. It
is required for all those UC transfer students who are completing IGETC and
fulfills the critical thinking requirement for CSU General Education. “
