Event Archive: 2004 Citizen of the Year Annual Benefit Luncheon - Ohlone College Foundation

Instituted to celebrate and honor outstanding community leaders for their dedication and service to our community.

Don and Babs Amsbaugh. The 17th Annual Citizen of the Year Luncheon honored Don and Babs Amsbaugh for their outstanding contributions to the Tri-cities community.

The Tri-Cities have had no greater champions for giving and the spirit of volunteerism than Don and Babs Amsbaugh. They have donated endless hours to help others, serving as campaign volunteers for the city of Fremont, Washington Hospital, and for city, county and state offices, working on foundation boards for the Hospital and Ohlone College, participating as members of the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, and being actively involved in service organizations such as Rotary. In fact, Don has had perfect attendance (so far!) with Niles Rotary since he joined in 1960. The Amsbaughs are noted for putting the needs of others before their own. They truly embody the attributes of “Citizen of the Year”.

The Citizen of the Year Benefit Luncheon highlights the important role the College plays in the Tri-City region. It is the largest fundraising event for the Ohlone College Foundation providing funds for scholarships, grants, and college programs. It has developed into a well-attended event, which in previous years has hosted a sell-out crowd of over 400 attendees. It is without question one of the most recognizable events in the community.
