Residents of the Ohlone Community College District have eagerly awaited the opening of the Center for Health Sciences and Technology. We are now in the final days of finishing the building and getting ready to move in.

First Day & Ribbon Cutting - January 28

From the passage of Bond Measure A in 2002 and throughout the construction process residents of the Ohlone Community College District have eagerly awaited the opening of the Center for Health Sciences and Technology. We are now in the final days of finishing the building and getting ready to move in.

Classes begin January 28, 2008. Early that morning, Ohlone will hold a ribbon cutting at the building. This ceremony is open to the press and to the public. ASOC, Ohlone’s student government association invites the entire student body to attend this event. The event begins at 7:30am so we can welcome our students to the new campus.

The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be broadcast live over the Web! A video archive of the event will also be available online as video on demand.

Newark Center Dedication Ceremony - January 31

Later that week, on Thursday, January 31, the Dedication Ceremony for the Newark Center will be held at 12:30pm in the quad area between Wings 3 and 4 at the Newark Center campus.

Parking is limited - please make every effort to carpool. Thank you.

World Forum: Focus the Nation "Teach-In" - January 31

On Wednesday, January 30 and Thursday, January 31, Ohlone joins over 900 other colleges and universities in the nationwide Focus the Nation “Teach-In” event. Emphasizing environmental sustainability, the daylong event will unite students, faculty and administration as they educate each other about changes that can be made to alter the future climate of our planet. The intent is to focus the growing concern in the country about global warming and to create a serious, sustained and truly national discussion about clean energy solutions.

The event will link students and citizens directly with our political leaders in a national symposia held simultaneously at over a thousand venues across the country in a non-partisan, interdisciplinary roundtable discussion of global warming solutions. Grand Opening Celebration - February 2

Opening a new campus is a once in a lifetime event and Ohlone is throwing a party to celebrate! On Saturday, February 2nd join us for the Green Tie Gala celebrating our grand opening.

The evening begins with a pre-Gala reception at the Newark campus at 5:00pm. Appetizers and an open bar will greet partygoers who want to tour the facility prior to dinner. At 7:00pm the gala will begin with delicious food, good company and great entertainment from some of Ohlone’s premier performance groups. Check Green Tie Gala for details!

Proceeds from this fund raiser will help furnish the Ohlone College Newark Center for Health Sciences and Technology.
