  • Ohlone Scholarship Winners Feted at Foundation Luncheon; The Ohlone College Foundation's annual Citizen of the Year luncheon also honored the Rotary Clubs of the Tri-Cities - June 7, 2011, Newark Patch - "Service to the Community" was the theme for Saturday's 22nd Annual Citizen of the Year Luncheon, hosted by the Ohlone Community College Foundation. The event was held to celebrate students who received scholarships this spring for their studies at Ohlone and to thank several companies, groups and individuals who donated funds to make the scholarship program possible.
  • Tri-Cities Rotaries honored by Ohlone Foundation - May 26, 2011, Mercury News - Each year Ohlone College Foundation honors a citizen, organization or community group for their contribution to the community, both at the college and at large.
  • Ohlone honors rotary clubs at Champagne Luncheon - May 26, 2011, Inside Bay Area - The six rotary clubs of the Tri-City area will be honored next week as Ohlone College's Citizens of the Year at the school's annual Champagne Luncheon.
  • Honoring Rotary Clubs of the Tri-Cities - May 24, 2011, Tri-City Voice - When Bob Wasserman, now mayor of Fremont, became a charter member of the Rotary Club of Mission San Jose in 1983, women were not allowed to join the organization. After a club in Southern California had allowed women to join, they lost their club charter. They filed suit.
  • Ohlone Citizen of the Year 2011 - May 3, 2011, Tri-City Voice - The Rotary Club of Fremont was chartered in June 1963, and is the second oldest Rotary Club in Fremont. From the beginning, the Club's strength has been in its diversity of interest.
  • Honoring Rotary Clubs of the Tri-Cities - April 19, 2011, Tri-City Voice - The Rotary Club of Newark has been around almost as long as the City of Newark. The City of Newark was established in 1955, and the Rotary Club of Newark started in May of 1961.
  • Niles Rotary Club - April 12, 2011, Tri-City Voice - The Niles Rotary Club was founded on December 9, 1937 in the Niles district of then Washington Township. Sponsored by the Hayward Rotary Club, it was the first Rotary club in southern Alameda County. Charles (Chuck) Kraft was the charter president. The club had 16 charter members and soon grew to 60 members.
  • Ohlone College Citizen of the Year - April 5, 2011, Tri-City Voice - Each year the Ohlone College Foundation hosts a Citizen of the Year Luncheon to honor a group, organization, or individual who has made an exceptional contribution to the community providing important services and contributing significantly to the progress or improvement of our community. This year, the Foundation Board has chosen to honor the six Rotary Clubs of the Tri-Cities as the 2011 Citizen of the Year.
