Scholarship Spotlight Spring 2011 - Ohlone College Foundation

Wai Tung Lam
- Salwa Aboumrad HOSTS Scholarship
- William D. Ferreira, Esq HOSTS Scholarship
- ASOC Leadership Scholarship
I would like to attend college because I value the opportunity to receive an education. I would like to widen my horizons and learn beyond the books. I like learning with a group of diverse students because this expands my understanding towards other cultures. College can equip me with critical thinking skills to examine an issue through a wider lens and to solve a problem from different angles. Education is very valuable because it gives me the power of self-confidence and makes me feel intellectually engaged and complete.
My future goal is to become a corporate lawyer, so I am planning to apply to law school after obtaining my business degree. Studying law can prepare me to become an influential leader in the business world and to make the business field become respected again in our society. I am looking forward to receiving unlimited knowledge in my college path and prepare myself to achieve my future career goal.
As an international full-time student I have paid attention and efforts to my studies and also take part in different leadership roles in college. I would like to show my appreciation to my parents for providing me a valuable learning opportunity to study abroad in the United States. Since this is my last semester at Ohlone College, I would also like to show my achievements in these two years to my parents and show them my accomplishments through this scholarship award.
This scholarship can offer more learning resources and reference books for me to prepare for the LSAT. And it can also encourage me to achieve further success in academic and personal development on my educational path. This scholarship will also motivate me to improve myself, to utilize my strengths, to create a better community, to contribute and to serve the society in the future.
