GE Subcommittee Goals 2011-2012
- Continue to review and approve courses for GE Plan A.
- Continue to train faculty in the creation and completion of GE rationales for their courses.
- Finish revision of GE Plan A area definitions and SLOS (Area III Fine Arts/Humanities, Area IV Analytical Thinking and Oral Communication, Area VI Cultural Diversity) and overall GE Plan A philosophy statement.
- Continue to explore and develop ethical and civil perspectives in GE courses. Section II.A.3.c of the most recent accreditation report stated, “There are no specific student learning outcomes related to ethics. … Ethical and civil perspectives need to be more clearly delineated.”
- Continue the dialog regarding how to assess GE Plan A student learning outcomes.
- Continue to improve and refine GE Plan A assessment in general.
- Continue to evaluate the meaning of “General Education” at Ohlone College.
