Grant Opportunities: Federal

Grants.gov allows organizations to electronically find and apply for more than $4000 billion in Federal grants. Grants.gov is THE single access point for over 1000 grant programs offered by all Federal grant-making agencies.

National Science Foundation -
The National Science Foundation promotes and advances scientific progress in the United States by competitively awarding grants and cooperative agreements for research and education in the sciences, mathematics, and engineering. An independent federal agency created by Congress in 1950, the NSF has an annual budget of about $5.5 billion. NSF is a major funding source for approximately 20% of all federally supported research conducted by America’s Colleges and Universities.

Currently Ohlone has been awarded one NSF grant, which funds the LAB program in the Biotechnology department.

National Institute of Health -
The NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts is the official publication for NIH medical and behavioral research grant policies, guidelines, and funding opportunities.

Department of Education -
The U.S. Department of Education (ED) provides grant funds to help strengthen teaching and learning in colleges and other postsecondary institutions. Programs funded through the Dept. of Ed include programs to support students, faculty and colleges/universities.

Department of Energy -
The homepage of the department of energy will give a listing of the grant opportunities currently available. However, like many of the federal government funding opportunities, applications must be submitted through Grants.gov.

Department of Labor Also requires application to go through Grants.gov.

National Endowment for the Arts and
National Endowment for the Humanities -
Two independent grant-making institutions funded by the US government dedicated to supporting research, education, preservation, and public programs in the humanities, culture and the arts.

Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance -
The online Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance gives you access to a database of all Federal programs available to State and local governments, public and private non-profit institutions, specialized groups and individuals.

Grant Opportunities: Private Foundations

The Foundation Center is the most authoritative source of information on private philanthropy in the united States. The Center helps grant seekers, grant makers, researchers better understand the field of philanthropy. Sign up on the Center’s website to receive instant notification of interested opportunities.

The Grantsmanship Center offers an array of grantsmanship training and low-cost publications to nonprofit organizations and government agencies. The Grantsmanship Center maintains an extensive data base to search for funding opportunities.

Council for Resource Development (CRD): Regional and National conferences and training.

Management Concepts Grants & Assistance Training Programs: They offer training courses for Federal Agencies, Grant recipients, and Financial Managers, Auditors and Accountants.
