The Gallaudet University Regional Centers (GURCs) are available to assist you.

The GURCs bring the resources of Gallaudet University, the world’s only liberal arts university for deaf and hard of hearing people, to your region through partnerships with five host sites:

Through the GURCs, Gallaudet University capitalizes on partnerships developed with the host institutions. Since 1983, the GURC at Ohlone College has helped to bring the mission of the university alive in the regions by providing educational opportunities, professional development, information dissemination, building local and regional alliances and promoting excellence in academics for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. The Western Region administered by GURC at Ohlone College is comprised of the following 12 states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

The GURCs offer training workshops, technical assistance, extension courses, and coordinate the annual Regional High School Academic Bowl competitions that culminate in the National Academic Bowl sponsored by Gallaudet University. The GURCs address the educational, transition, and professional development needs of deaf and hard of hearing people from birth through adulthood, their families, and the professionals who work with them.

The GURCs work within the Gallaudet University, College of Professional Studies and Outreach. The GURCs coordinate many of their activities through the various departments with CPSO. In addition, the GURCs work with a variety of departments across the university and within the Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center at Gallaudet University.
