People say college is supposed to be “the time of your life”. You meet friends, and have the freedom to do what you want. BUT, for many, college life can be difficult, because there is so much to juggle. Many students are left feeling stressed, anxious, disconnected and alone.
Ohlone College is on a campaign and joins National Depression Screening Day to educate everyone that help and support are available. No one needs to suffer in silence or alone.
If you are feeling sad, angry, stressed, weepy or tired and can’t stop worrying…, or maybe you haven’t been feeling quite yourself lately, and you’re blue and just want to talk…. Or, you are fine, but you know a friend who is feeling out of sorts…drop by the Student Health Center, Building 7 to participate in free, confidential, education and screenings for a range of common emotional conditions that are often misunderstood and or overlooked.
Allow 20 minutes for the actual screening process. All information is confidential. Drop in and fill out the questionnaire and talk with a professional mental health provider. Rosemary O'Neill, MFT/PCC, Coordinator of Personal Counseling and Life Coaching Services, Dr. Gena Rhodes, PhD/MFT, and Sally Bratton RN, FNP, Director of the Student Health Center, will provide education, support and referral resources (on campus or within the community) for those who take the brief screening assessment.
Or go to www.depression-screening.org for an online screening. Bring the results to the Health Center for scoring by a counselor who will provide information and support.
Depression Screening Program is sponsored by Ohlone Student Health Center, Campus Activities, and ASOC Student Government.
Personal Counseling Services are available to all currently enrolled Ohlone College students. Services are free and confidential. Short-term counseling or life coaching sessions are available. Community referrals are given for those challenges requiring more in depth support.
