New Account Instructions
Login ID ___________
Establishing Your Account in FrontView Terminal Mode

- Check to make sure the “Caps Lock”light is out on your keyboard and that you are typing in lower case letters
- Double-click the FrontView icon located on your desktop or select it from the Start menu (Start Menu > Programs Submenu> Datatel Menu) to arrive at the FrontView Terminal Mode login screen

- Enter information at the login prompts (Note: your screen may look different from the one above)
- Login ID: first initial, last name up to the eighth character Note: In the event of a duplicate ID, the middle initial will follow the first initial
- In all lower case letters, as assigned from the Information Technology Department
- Example - Anne Employee login ID will be shorten to “aemploye”
- If you typo or add an extra character to the login enter the “@ “character immediately and begin typing from that point. Example –Login: Aemployee@aemploye Note: Do not backspace! Backspaces are counted as valid characters!!
- User Number
- Your supervisor will provide you with your access number
- Press the "Enter" key
Password selection criteria
- You must now be prepared to make a password selection choice. >> You are strongly encouraged to pick your passwords (p)
- Must be at least six character (and generally not more than eight characters
- At least one character being a digit and at least two being characters)
- Make it easy for you to remember. Examples: Av8tor, 2BorNot2B, 2bad4u
Passwords expires in approximately 90 days
- The system recognizes a password that is too similar to your old password & will not allow the change!
- Take this opportunity to change all you other passwords
- Colleague ( Datatel )
- Network login password
- Email - also controls your access to Calendar & the Publisher's Workbench
- Keyboard entry reminder and warning when entering your login ID or password:
- A security feature of this operating system software is that all back spaces and other control characters COUNT when logging in!
- If you typo or add an extra character to the login enter the "@" character immediately and begin typing from that point. Example Password: Aviata@av8to
- Notes:
- Do not backspace! Backspaces are counted as valid characters!!
- You may use the backspace feature AFTER you have successfully logged in.
Note: You will not receive a visual reference when you type in the password, so enter it carefully!

- Choose the letter option "p":
p - to pick your password (you are highly recommended to pick your own password) - Press the "Enter" key
- Enter your new password at the “New password”prompt (C)

- Re-enter your password at the “Re-enter new password”prompt (D) (authentication process)

The System Menu
You will get a brief glimpse of the Copy Right Information, Restricted Rights Legend, HP address and a completed prompt before arriving at the System Menu Process Screen

System Menu Options
- Colleague Live - ST (Student System), CF (College Financial) & HR (Human Resources) applications here
- Other Accounts Menu - Test accounts to practice learning Colleague

- Easy Spooler Menu - Future training coming (to be announced)
- Change Password - Go here before your password expires to change it
- Exit - Logout - To leave the FrontView Interface when your work efforts are finished
Changing Your Password From The FrontView Terminal Mode System Menu Process Screen

- At the "Enter Selection" prompt enter: 5 (Change Password)
- Press the "Enter" key

- Read the instructions presented in the dialog box
- Enter your old password at "A", remember will not receive a visual reference when you type in the password, so enter it carefully
- Choose one of the following letter options:
- g - pronounceable password generated for you (default response)
- l - a string of letters generated
- p - to pick your password (you are highly recommended to pick your own password
- Enter your selection at the "Enter choice here" prompt at "B" & press the "Enter" key

- Enter your new password at the "New Password" prompt at "C"
- Press the "Enter" key

Enter your new password again to verify correct spelling at the "Re-enter new password" prompt at "D"

Press the "Enter" key

You will then return to the System Menu process screen

Exiting Colleague or Benefactor

Type "LO" at any menu prompt to go to the System Menu screen

- At the Enter selection prompt enter "6" (Exit - Logout), as in the example above
- Press the "Enter" key
- "logout" will appear on the System Menu screen
- You will notice the screen will also contain this message: "[Connection closed from host]"
- Go to the Menu Bar and place the mouse arrow over the Files command & press the left mouse button to display the File command drop down menu
- Highlight the "Exit" subcommand and release the mouse button OR use the keyboards shortcut by pressing the "ALT" + "F" keys together

Forgotten your password?
- You will need to contact Computer Operations, x6094, to have your account reset
- They will issue you a new number to access your account
- Follow the "Establishing Your Account" instructions on the first page to reset your password
Datatel Terms Explained
Mnemonic - is a process or menu name, usually an abbreviation (a two- to four-character code), designed to help you remember the menu process for which it stands.
Application - a set of screens, reports, and batch processes that work together to meet the specific needs of a functional area.
Module - a unit or section of the Datatel program that can function on its own.
Detail [F2] (also known as "drill down") - the process of accessing additional information related to a specific field or fields on the preceding screen.
Finish [F9]- saves the data and exits from the current screen and returns to the menu from which it was accessed.
Update [F10] - saves the data and updates the current record, redisplays current screen, and prompts for a new record ID.

Highlighted (dark blue is the Windows default color or the color you have assigned) title bar color indicates this window is the active window
