International Programs and Services
How to Apply
Ohlone College is one of 112 community colleges in the State of California. More than 420 international students from almost 30 different countries are presently studying at Ohlone College. We hope you, your friends or relatives decide to join us too.
"International student" is defined here as a student who has, or wishes to obtain, the F-1 Student Visa to study in the United States.
Most Ohlone College international students pursue a 2-year Associate’s Degree or Transfer Degree. After completing the transfer requirements or earning a 2-year degree, students can transfer to a 4-year university to complete the final 2 years of a Bachelor’s degree. The most popular transfer universities for Ohlone College international students are schools that make up the University of California and California State University systems.
Ohlone College is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Ohlone College is authorized by United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to issue the Immigration Form I-20 to admitted international students. Admitted students use that Form I-20 to apply for their F-1 Student Visa at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate in their home country.
Located on a 534-acre hillside site above the northern reaches of Silicon Valley and the southern border of San Francisco Bay, Ohlone's main campus is removed from industrial areas – but still convenient to food and retail services, residential areas, and public transportation.
With 300 acres reserved for open space, the campus offers a safe and beautiful learning environment. Natural features—black oak, chaparral, and seasonal streams—dominate the landscape and welcome wildlife along with academic life. Human-made structures are modeled on the early California missions, with red-tiled roofs, adobe-like walls, and numerous open walkways.
Designed to complement the hillside surroundings and to make getting around easy, campus buildings are arranged in clusters. At the center of campus are classroom buildings for the study of Business Administration, Chemistry, Computer Science, Music, Accounting, Art, Biology, Engineering, and many other disciplines of study; two fully equipped lecture halls; the Epler Gymnasium; an Olympic-size swimming pool; and the Student Services Center (Building 7), where the International Programs and Services office is located.
Other College facilities and sites include the Gary Soren Smith Center for the Fine and Performing Arts, the Fitness Center, Computer Labs, Tutoring Labs, the College Library and Bookstore, athletic fields and facilities.
