Homestay

Live with a host family while studying at Ohlone College! Homestays provide international students the chance to:

• Learn more about American culture,
• Practice English, and
• Live in a comfortable and secure environment.

Ohlone College works with International Student Placements, a homestay provider with over 15 years of experience matching students with comfortable host families. Families are located within commuting distance to Ohlone College.

 ^*  A $50 Late Fee also applies if the homestay application is received by ISP within 21 days of the student’s arrival.

Taylor Hall Dormitory, DeVry University

Although there is no dormitory housing on the Ohlone College campus, we have an agreement with DeVry University in Fremont to provide housing for Ohlone College students. Students live in a newly built resident hall, Taylor Hall, with many amenities and services. Learn more about Taylor Hall at DeVry.

Rooms for Rent

You may wish to contact International Student Placements (see Homestay) for information on available rooms for rent near Ohlone College. You may also wish to check other websites for housing information, such as Craigslist: East Bay. On the Craigslist home page, choose “housing” then select “fremont / union city / newark” from the neighborhoods drop-down menu. ^*

Short-Term Hotels

There are a number of hotels in Fremont and Newark. Students just arriving to the U.S. may wish to stay at one of these hotels for a few days or weeks, while they look for longer-term accommodations. Family members who are visiting students may also wish to choose one of these hotels. ^**
