April - June 2010
OFK After School Enrichment Program
Registration begins on Friday, March 19, 2010.
Writing Wonders
This unique course offers children the opportunity to engage in a variety of word games and writing exercises designed to awaken their creative passions and instill confidence in their ability to generate ideas for the page. During the nine week program, children will learn that writing is not a stiff, structured subject, but a vital and powerful means for self-expression. That is, they’ll learn that writing is fun, and something they can do.
There will be two (2) sections of the Writing Wonders class. One section will be for 2nd graders only; the other will be for 3rd graders only.
Locations: Mission San Jose Elementary School.
Journalism (Grade 4-6)
Is there a news reporter inside your child looking for an opportunity to write? In this class students will learn the skills needed to plan, research, and write articles for an online school newspaper. Along the way we will explore the difference between opinion and fact, discuss the rights and responsibilities of journalists, and of course, learn ways to improve our writing.
Locations: Ardenwood Elementary School and Mission San Jose Elementary School.
