Making the College Adjustment - Online Orientation

How Ohlone Can Help

You may schedule an appointment by calling (510) 659-6110 (Fremont campus) or (510) 742-2323 (Newark campus), stopping by the counseling window in Building 1 on the Fremont campus or the Student Services Center in Room 1312 on the Newark Center campus, or using the web-based scheduling system. Counselors can assist you with time management, study skills, and can help guide you in the right direction. You can also contact Ohlone's Electronic Counselor via email if you have questions or concerns.

Counselors also teach Personal Development Classes that are geared towards helping new students succeed in college. Topics that are covered are study skills, time and money management, diversity, communication, and career decision-making. Please see the current semester's Class Schedule for a complete list of Personal Development courses or visit the Personal Development web site at http://www.ohlone.edu/instr/personaldev/.

Many new students participate in Welcome Day every fall, a 1/2 unit, one-day class in which students participate in interactive activities to help them make a smooth transition to college. This is an exciting opportunity to meet other new students, while gaining valuable skills to help you succeed in college. Welcome Day is listed under the Personal Development section of the current Class Schedule.

If you are finding courses too difficult, visit our one of our Learning Centers. Tutoring is free!

There are many other services available to Ohlone students, which will be covered in the next section, “Student Services.”
