Choosing Your Classes - Online Orientation
Reading the Class Schedule
In order to select your classes, you will need to look through the Class Schedule (available in WebAdvisor or in printed form at the Ohlone College Bookstore) and find your courses. Classes are listed alphabetically by department. Below is a sample of a course listing in the printed version of the Class Schedule:
(D)
Each course section (ART-103A has 2 sections) has its own id number with is referred to as the synonym number. The synonym number is the 6-digit number that comes before the instructor's name. When you register for classes, this will be the number that identifies the class you want to take.
Another important piece of information is the room number. Make sure to pay attention the where the course is being taught. The first section of ART-103A is being taught in NOC-3. This means the class is being offered at the Newark campus. The second section is being offered in room 2133. This is on the Fremont campus in Building 2 (for additional information on room numbering, see the “Frequently Asked Questions” portion of the orientation).
A final piece of information to draw your attention to is the time the class will be offered. Section 2 of ART-103A is highlighted in gray, which indicates the class will be offered in the evening.
For definitions of terms such as prerequisite, corequisite, and advisory, see the “Terms to Know” portion of the orientation.
