The internationally acclaimed soprano Patricia Racette as Cio-Cio San.
One of the most beloved dramatic operas, Madame Butterfly is a classic tale of love and colliding cultures. Set in nineteenth-century Japan, the opera tells the story of a geisha tragically torn between two worlds. Featuring San Francisco Opera Company Choir and Orchestra, sung in Italian with English subtitles.
Company Music Director Donald Runnicles conducts.
“…a compelling and almost breathlessly taut rendition of this timeless tragedy.” Patricia Racette’s portrayal is “an incendiary performance.”
—San Francisco Chronicle
