Smith Center Presents!

Jazz guitarist Grant Geissman makes a rare bay area appearance at Ohlone College, bringing his extraordinary agility, breadth and innovative jazz stylings to the stage at the Smith Center. With a far-reaching career that stretches back to his intricate, groundbreaking solo on Chuck Mangione's "Feels So Good" Geissman's playing and composing has spanned multiple traditions of jazz. Expect the unexpected at his concert on Saturday. Geissman says, "The key to making meaningful music is not to limit myself stylistically—which to me is what an artist is supposed to do." Having just completed the third of a trilogy of jazz recordings which moves toward more traditional jazz expressions, Bop, Bang, Boom! covers a lot of ground that includes soul, samba, zydeco and swing. Saturday night, Geissman and the Bop, Bang, Boom band will cover new ground as well as more familiar territory.
