Mission Peak Brass Band:
Spring Concert

This 30-piece brass and percussion ensemble, under the direction of Tony Clements, kicks off their Spring concert with Gershwin's "Strike up the Band," Arnold's "Padstow's Lifeboat," Holst's "First Suite in E-Flat," Barry's "Best of Bond" and more!

Ohlone Community Band:
Spring Concert

In its 36th year, the 60-piece Ohlone Community Band, directed by Tony Clements, performs an exciting mix of Symphonic Band Classics and recent band compositions.

Featuring:

  • Tony Clements, Tuba Solo on Piazzolla's "Oblivion," conducted by Dan Smith
  • Chris Nalls, conducting Hazo's "Ride"
  • and Jason Sander's arrangement of music from "Cutthroat Island"

Ohlone Chamber Singers:
The Italian Masters

Featuring the music of the great Italian composers such as Vivaldi, Palestrina, Donizetti, and Verdi in celebration of the year 2013 as the Year of Italian Culture and the 200th anniversary of the birth of the great composer, Guiseppe Verdi. Conducted by Michael Morris; Laura Green, piano.

Ohlone Wind Orchestra:
Winter Concert

California's premier Wind Orchestra, directed by Tony Clements, presents a winter concert encompassing classical and innovative selections. Featured pieces include: de Meij's monumental Symphony No. 1, "The Lord of the Rings," Persichetti's "Symphony for Band" (Symphony No. 6), and McTee's "Ballet for Band."

Ohlone Wind Orchestra

The Ohlone Wind Orchestra, directed by Tony Clements, presents a second Spring Concert.

Guest artist: Lydia Busler-Blais, hornist, composer, improvisation artist, performs "Rhapsody for Horn, Winds & percussion" by Jan Van Der Roost.

Lydia has performed with many orchestras and dance companies as a prominent soloist and improvisationalist. She received awards from the Consortium of Vermont Composers, the International Horn Society Meir Rimon Fund, and the Massachusetts Arts Council.

  • Four Dances from "West Side Story" by Leonard Bernstein

Ohlone Community Band and Ohlone Tuba Ensemble:
Pops Concert

The Ohlone Community Band and Ohlone Tuba Ensemble, directed by Tony Clements, presents a Pops Concert featuring music from Broadway, film, symphonic pops, and pop culture including:

  • Symponic Suite from Star Trek,
  • Tubas of the Apocalypse,
  • the circus march Entry of the Gladiators
  • Symphonic Dances from Fiddler on the Roof,
    and
  • the Broadway classic Slaughter on Tenth Avenue

Special Guest Performance by Lydia Busler-Blais, Award-Winning Improvisational Horn Soloist. Lydia has performed with many orchestras and dance companies as a prominent soloist and improvisationalist. Featuring Hoagy Carmichael's Stardust, Horn Solo.

The 30-piece brass and percussion ensemble, directed by Tony Clements, is sure to entertain performing works including: Berne Patrol, English Country Scenes, Ruby Tuesday, Blueberry Hill and more!

The Ohlone Community Chorale, directed by Darryl Guzman, presents their Spring concert.

A concert celebrating the diverse, unaccompanied music by American Composers Kirby Shaw, Hoagy Carmichael, Samuel Barber, Randall Thompson, Eric Whitacre, Moses Hogan, and many more! Jazz Combos

An exciting evening of live music awaits, full of cool grooves and original style, as young artists in the Jazz Combos class, led by Tim Roberts, bring new perspectives to classic jazz. Horn and rhythm sections perform swing, bossa nova, blues, show tunes and jazz standards.

Rock Combos

Featuring The Horn Dogs.

Young rock musicians in the Rock Combos class, led by Tim Roberts, take their shot at fame, performing live rock music including current hits from Macklemore, Coheed and Cambria, and Mumford and Sons, as well as classics from Earth Wind and Fire, the Stones, the Jackson 5, and the 1968 guitar "tour de force" Classical Gas.

Chops Big Band:
Spring Concert: Audience Favorites

For 25 years, Chops Big Band has been one of the Bay Area's most lively and sought-after 18-piece big bands. The Chops Big Band, conducted by Ken Crowell, performs their final concert of the 2012-2013 season with audience favorites form previous concerts. Featuring:

  • Bernstein's "West Side Story"
  • Compositions from Count Basie, Buddy Rich, and Duke Ellington
